The landslide in the Mundakkai-Chooralmala region of Wayanad has claimed the lives of over 300 people, left many injured, and destroyed nearly a thousand homes. The Government of Kerala is fully committed to both immediate relief efforts and long-term rehabilitation. Since the day of the disaster, comprehensive rescue and welfare operations have been carried out with the utmost care and responsibility. A rehabilitation package has already been announced for those affected.
To rebuild lives and restore normalcy, the government envisions the construction of a township that includes homes for displaced families, essential public institutions, roads, and other infrastructure. Contributions from individuals, corporates, and organizations will be instrumental in making this vision a reality.
